WUYUAN ROAD TOWNHOUSE, SHANGHAI
Tucked along one of Shanghai’s most poetic tree-lined streets, this three-storey townhouse is StudioGlam’s ode to bohemian chic — a layered, lived-in fantasy where heritage meets hedonism.
Inside, neoclassical paneling flirts with lacquered red accents and mirrored ceilings; velvet sofas fringe in couture tassels, and plum-blossom murals bloom across walls like memories from an old Shanghai dream. Every room hums with personality — a confident collision of eras, patterns, and moods.
The dining room channels a surrealist dinner party: zebra-stripe chairs converse with electric-blue cabinets, while the piano room glows beneath a ceiling that shimmers like aged champagne. Upstairs, an ebony-and-gold bamboo suite evokes the hush of a private salon, equal parts Eastern restraint and cinematic drama. Even the bathrooms tell stories — clawfoot elegance set against black marble chaos, lit with a touch of irreverence.
“It’s a house that dresses up every day,” says designer Godfrey Lam. “But never to impress — only to express.”
The Wuyuan Road Townhouse captures the essence of modern Shanghai bohemia: sensual, layered, and slightly unpredictable. Every detail is a dialogue between restraint and rebellion — proof that glamour doesn’t always whisper. Sometimes, it laughs out loud.
